Program Overview and Objectives:

This one-year full-time certificate course is designed to provide aspiring medical laboratory technologists with practical exposure to advanced diagnostic technologies used in clinical laboratories today. The program focuses on:

  • Offering hands-on experience with widely-used diagnostic modalities.
  • Enhancing the employability of candidates through structured, Practical training

Expected Competencies Upon Completion of Course:

Candidates of this course will be proficient in:

  • Phlebotomy training using correct technique and appropriate containers
  • Evaluating samples for pre-analytical acceptance criteria
  • Processing specimens in accordance with the testing requirements (following standard operating procedure)
  • Operating a variety of diagnostic analysers and performing laboratory tests and LIS Operation
  • Applying quality control (QC) measures, managing outliers, and interpreting QC data (Unity Software)
  • Understand accreditation standards (ISO:15189) and implement a Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Safely handling and disposing of biological samples post-retention
  • Adhering to laboratory safety guidelines
  • Maintaining basic inventory management practices
  • Bio Medical Waste Management

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications:

  • M.Sc. Biotechnology
  • DMLT/BMLT/MLT
  • B.Tech Biotechnology

Course Duration: One Year (Full-Time)

Course Structure:

The training will be rotational and structured over 12 months as follows:

  • Phlebotomy and Sample Management - 2 month
  • Biochemistry and Special Biochemistry - 2 months
  • Hematology and Flowcytometry - 2 months
  • Histopathology & Cytopathology - 2 months
  • Microbiology & Serology - 2 months
  • Molecular Pathology and Cytogenetics - 2 month

Theory Sessions:

  • 6 sessions per week (30 minutes each)
  • Topics include Quality, Safety, and other relevant technical subjects
  • Internal assessments will be conducted periodically (Quarterly)

Selection Process:

  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview
  • If the number of applicants exceeds the intake capacity, a written test followed by an interview will be conducted
